SATURDAY REUNION GROUP PHOTO

WINAPE REUNION A RESOUNDING SUCCESS!

We had over 130 attendees at the August 2007 Reunion and shared many laughs, stories, hugs, remembrances, and a few tears.

From the 1937 Campers to the grandkids, everyone checked out the scrapbooks, found their names on the cabin walls, gave a "camper inspection" to Cedar Crest (there were hospital corners on all beds!) and exchanged tales.

Then we had about 30 hikers to Mt. Elan.  Even Ginevra Caswell made it up and down, although at a few points it seemed too steep!

After a cool swim in Seymour Lake (unusually warm at around 76 degrees) it was off to the Dining Hall for fellowship, a great banquet and ice cream dessert with strawberries.  Trading Post, the Campfire, songs, stories, taps, the mystery bugler and stars and fireworks followed.

Sunday, there was a run around Echo, a Polar Bear (where even Chip Cleland was persuaded to dive in) and a breakfast and lakefront activity day.

We lucked out on the weather as it rained hard Monday, August 6 as I left Camp!

Certainly, there were many angels, spirits of the Four Winds, old campers and counselors and others watching over Camp Winape, Lake Seymour and the attendees on a glorious Saturday and Sunday.

Thank you all for attending.  Here is a group photo.  We will post more as soon as possible.

If you have any good photos, please email to ekolar@fdn.com, or mail to Eric Kolar, 3305 Atlantic Boulevard, Suite B, Jacksonville, FL 32207.

These are some more wonderful photographs of the Camp and the reunion and show the Flagpole, the Waterfront, the Old Camp map for the real "Old Timers" staying in Chipmunk or the Outpost, and some of the memorial plaques and interesting Winape vistas!  Thanks Bob!  You can download these or order prints.

Katy Ricci has uploaded her photos to the Kodak Web site.  You can review and download at the following link

There are some great shots including (a) Jeff Bernstein finding his trunk, contents and note from his Mom he left in storage at the Camp in 1980 for “the next season”, (b) Bernstein showing us his former (alleged) championship skiing technique on his craft shop generated bongo board, (c) a junior camper too tired to eat her ice cream at the banquet, (d) Peter Jenney getting “detained” by Bob Partridge, his Twin Spruce buddy and former camper and Vermont State Police officer who checked in on the reunion and the attendees by boat, (e) Tom Swift and Skip Jacobs with the Raiford Trophy they both won in 1966 and (f)  the “mystery fuglehorner” Terri Wittreich, who gave us a moving rendition of Taps at the campfire!!
